Hitchhikers # 2 and #3

These creatures are small. They appear white with featureless, almost charred-looking, black exposed ends. I’m taking a lot of photos of them simply because I can see them better in the photos than with my eyes. I can see texture, changes in color, that the “black dot” on the end of the very small thin HH#3 isn’t featureless.

Close up of Hitchhiker #2

These pictures really give much more detail than I can see. It’s not very big as you can see in other photos. This is a 2 lb rock in a 2.5 gal tank.

The best shot so far of the front of the rock with its wild profusion of coralline algae and all three hitchhikers visible. HH1 just peeking over the back of the rock on the far left. HH2 on the right, with HH3 sticking out from the right side. (All these images can be clicked for bigger image.)

A good shot of HH2 & HH3. You can see the texture of HH3 on the far right and even slightly discern some sort of feature to the “black dot” which appears to have a lighter brown rim around it. ?

Here is HH3 enlarged. This is far more than I can see with my eyes. The dark area is, in actuality, the diameter of a blunt pencil point. (click to see it even bigger)

The body (HH3) almost seems to have a kind of sheen to it, though that could be an artifact of the flash.
