Fish! A picture’s worth a thousand words

After all these years I’ve finally gotten a fish in the mini-reef! Having given up on finding any captive -raised Caribbean species locally, I got a clownfish. I’ve always been partial to pink skunk clownfish and a local dealer had one left (captive-raised, of course) which I’ve had my eye on.

Below are a gallery of still pics — and two videos! The first (actinic lighting) was shot shortly after he was released into the tank last night. Went behind rock, terrified, panting, shimmying, but within minutes had eased into the cave under ledge rock and within 20 minutes was out in the tank! If you look very closely at the beginning of the first vid you can see Kalimba under the ledge sort of goose him! ;-) The second vid —edited from footage shot today, his first day in the tank, has a much better cameo by Kalimba. But of course the star is the as-yet-unnamed-clownfish with the Neomeris macroalgae host! :-D

Oh, yeah, and I’ve updated the header image as well. :-)

  1. Congratulations! Great update with pix and vids. Hope you had a great weekend. Still recovering from mine. Too much food. o_O

  2. A holiday weekend with a new happy creature in the reef is a good holiday weekend. :-) I divided my time between feeding my face and feeding my fish!
