I’m doing e-mail. After a half hour or so I glance at the aquarium. Kyo is gone. I stare searchingly at the algae, then stand, take 2 small steps toward the tank and out he pops, doing a full-body tail-wag like a small happy dog. Two things occur to me: he detected my movement across the carpeted room AND he realizes that he’s in a fierce competition with Calypso, Cortez & Kalimba for “Most Cute Creature”.

There. He did it again. We’re playing a game of hide-and-seek — or maybe peek-a-boo. At this point, it’s hard to say who’s entertaining who.
